The Cornish Association of Businesses (CAB) is sponsoring the 21st Annual Cornish Apple Festival on Saturday, September 25th in historic Cornish Village located in the scenic Western mountain and lakes region of Maine on Route 25 — 30 miles West of Portland and 9 miles East of the New Hampshire border.

Each year, this FREE festival is held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the center of Cornish village in historic Thompson Park and features more than this season’s apples, freshly pressed cider and other apple products from local vendors. There will also be:

  • Over 60 vendors offering art, photography, jewelry, crafts, apple and non-apple cuisine
  • Entertainment from local performers
    • Skylark Jazz Ensemble
    • More to be announced
  • Annual Apple Pie Baking Contest and Auction, takes place on the front porch of the historical Cornish Inn
  • Shopping at many local shops, several new shops have opened in the area
  • Raffle to be announced
  • 5K road race
  • Church supper at the Cornish United Church of Christ
  • 14th Annual Apple Acres Farm Bluegrass Gathering

Thompson Park will be the center of the day’s festivities featuring colorful booths of arts and crafts. Additionally, many food booths offering delicious food, especially the apple fritters, will delight the appetites of both the young and old.

In addition to the crafts and food, live entertainment will be performed throughout the day.

The Annual Apple Pie Baking Contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. on the porch of The Cornish Inn. Entries must be registered between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. First, Second and Third place winners will be awarded prizes. At the end of the contest, all pies will be auctioned.

Apple Festival visitors can also enjoy shopping in the many antique and crafts stores that line the Main, High and Maple streets of Cornish. Shopping is also available at near by town of Limerick, South Hiram, Porter, and Parsonsfield.

Visitors to Cornish may enjoy this event as well; Apple Acres Farm is not only a major provider of apples and apple products to the festival; they also are hosting the 13th Annual Bluegrass Gathering at their farm on Durgintown Road, 3 miles from downtown Cornish. Bluegrass concerts begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m. — Adults $7, kids 16 and under free. (Rain date for the Bluegrass Gathering, is the following Saturday)

Come early and stay a wile! The Cornish area provides several options for overnight stays and activities to choose from. See Dinning & Lodging listings on this Web site.

Admission to the Cornish Apple Festival is FREE.

The festival is outside and will take place in rain or shine. The Cornish Apple Festival is an annual event sponsored by the Cornish Association of Businesses (CAB), a non-profit organization of Cornish business owners who volunteer their time to promote general business and community welfare in Cornish.
